My Story
Sports have been a part of my life since elementary school. I stumbled upon the game of soccer by joining a group of boys playing out at recess and never looked back! I have always been an emotional player, which was both beneficial and challenging for me at times throughout my career as an athlete. I was hard on myself and had a very difficult time letting go of mistakes and setbacks. I was fortunate that the only pressure I felt was the pressure I put on myself; my parents were incredibly supportive. But throughout my career as an athlete, the concept of training your mental game was not being discussed.
My career in sports and coaching began with earning my bachelor’s degree from Franklin Pierce College in Sports & Recreation Management. At FPC, I was a member of the women’s soccer team, competing in three NCAA Final Four Championships and serving as co-captain my senior year.
I continued on to graduate school at the University of New Hampshire, where I received my Masters in Education. I've spent the next 17 years supporting youth as a middle school teacher, coach, and mindfulness instructor.
These days I spend lots of my free time at playing fields, ball parks and gyms, supporting my own children, Carter and Callie. Although they are just beginning their journey as athletes, my hope is that I can help them find joy and confidence in whatever they decide to pursue, both on and off the field!
Cultivating Confidence was created in response to the stress and burnout in youth athletics due to lack of confidence, high performance demands, and limited resilience skills. I can only imagine the improvements I would have seen in my own athletic career if I had realized that the mind is a muscle that can be trained and developed for sports and competition, just like the rest of my body.
My training and experience help me connect to the athletes I work with on a different level than a sports psychologist or therapist. Sessions are designed and personalized for the client to meet their learning style and athletic goals. I strive to provide athletes with strategies that not only level up their game, but level up their life!
